Frequently Asked Questions
Below are answers to common questions about working with Innermost Wealth Management, including our approach to financial planning, how advisory relationships work, and what to expect when partnering with an independent financial advisor.
About us.
-
Yes. Innermost Wealth operates as a fiduciary advisory firm, which means we are legally and ethically obligated to act in our clients’ best interests.
Our recommendations must prioritize your financial well-being rather than commissions, product sales, or outside incentives.
We believe financial advice works best when clients can trust that the guidance they receive is objective, thoughtful, and aligned with their long-term goals.
-
Fee-only means our compensation comes directly from our clients rather than from commissions or product sales.
Some advisory firms receive compensation from insurance products, investment funds, or other financial providers. We do not.
Our clients pay us for advice and ongoing financial oversight, allowing our recommendations to remain focused on what is most appropriate for their situation.
-
Innermost Wealth Management is based in the Metro Detroit area of Michigan and works with clients across the United States through secure virtual meetings.
Most of our client relationships are fully remote, which allows families to work with us regardless of location.
-
We are not licensed mental health professionals and we do not provide clinical treatment.
That said, we understand how intertwined money and wellbeing are.
Our approach is grounded in psychology and behavioral finance. We hold space for the feelings, beliefs, and patterns that often surface in financial planning and life transitions.
We always recommend working with a licensed mental health provider for clinical care and we are happy to collaborate when it supports your goals and overall wellbeing.
What it’s like to work with us.

Innermost Wealth works with individuals and families who value a long-term advisory relationship and want a trusted professional helping guide important financial decisions.
Many of our clients are high-earning professionals, business owners, and individuals navigating meaningful life transitions such as career changes, divorce, or major family decisions.
What they share in common is a desire for clarity, coordinated strategy, and a financial plan designed to support the life they want to live.
-

-
During the initial planning phase we typically meet more frequently as we build your financial strategy and review key decisions.
Once the plan is established, most clients meet with us two times per year for structured review meetings, with additional conversations as needed when life or financial circumstances change.
-
We use modern financial planning technology designed to bring your full financial life into one coordinated view.
This allows us to organize investments, retirement projections, cash flow, and long-term planning scenarios in one place rather than across multiple disconnected accounts and spreadsheets.
Clients also have access to a secure digital portal where important documents, planning updates, and financial information can be stored and accessed whenever needed.
These tools allow us to collaborate efficiently while keeping your financial plan organized, up to date, and easy to understand.
-
Not at all. Your job is to be honest about your goals, fears, and life circumstances.
Our job is to translate that into strategy. We’ll meet you where you are and explain everything in plain language, with as much support as you need.
-
You’re not alone.
Many people reach out because their financial life has grown more complex or feels difficult to untangle. Part of our work together is bringing structure and clarity to those moving pieces.
Our role is to help organize, prioritize, and create a strategy that moves you forward with confidence.
Our philosophy and approach.
-
Our approach is straightforward, thoughtful, and collaborative.
Financial decisions often carry emotional weight, especially during major life transitions. We combine technical financial planning with an awareness of the human side of money so we can approach those decisions with both clarity and perspective.
This is a space where you can ask questions, speak openly about what’s on your mind, and work through financial decisions without judgment.
Our role is to be a steady, objective partner who is on your side.
-
Our investment approach is grounded in long-term, evidence-based principles.
Rather than attempting to predict short-term market movements or select individual “winning” stocks, we focus on building diversified portfolios designed to support each client’s long-term financial goals.
Portfolios typically utilize diversified, lower-cost investment funds and are structured with attention to tax efficiency, risk management, and long-term discipline.
Investment decisions are made within the context of a broader financial plan so that portfolios support each client’s time horizon, life priorities, and overall financial strategy.
Our role is also to help clients remain steady through changing market conditions so short-term volatility doesn’t derail long-term progress.
-
For your security and convenience, Innermost Wealth Management works with Charles Schwab as an independent, third-party custodian for client investment accounts.
Schwab is one of the largest custodians in the industry, providing custody, trading, and account servicing for trillions of dollars in client assets. As a custodian, Schwab is responsible for safeguarding your assets, executing transactions, and delivering account statements and tax reporting directly to you.
Your accounts remain in your name at all times. You maintain full ownership, transparency, and access. You can view your accounts whenever you’d like through Schwab’s secure online portal.
We do not take custody of your assets and are not affiliated with or compensated by Schwab. As a fee-only firm, we do not earn commissions or receive incentives for specific products. Our role is to provide objective advice and manage your investments in alignment with your long-term goals
-
As an independent firm, our advice is not tied to any particular products, investment providers, or corporate agendas.
This independence allows us to focus entirely on strategies that align with your goals and long-term financial well-being.
We intentionally work with a focused number of clients so each relationship receives the depth of attention and continuity it deserves.

Innermost Wealth was built around the belief that financial planning should support the whole person, not just their net worth statement.
Many advisory relationships focus primarily on investment management. While investments are important, the most meaningful financial decisions often involve career changes, family dynamics, life transitions, and long-term priorities.
Our work integrates investment management with thoughtful financial planning and an awareness of the psychological side of money. The goal is to help clients make clear, confident decisions while building a financial life that genuinely supports what matters most to them.
